View Full Version : Anyone know where I can find wheat germ?
I have looked in the spice aisle, looked where the yeast is kept.. and I can't find it. Thoughts?
I bet the people that work at the store will know. :D
Did you try in the organic/crunchy/tree hugging section?
It's the isle down from chocolate-caramel tea. :D
The health food section at my grocer.

Did you look in the dairy case? Right next to the cream of tartar?
I'll look again. Perhaps I'll even ask. :D I tried the baking stuff, the organic stuff. Haven't tried the dairy case. ;)
If I can't find it, I'll try the natural foods store.
In our grocery store, it's in the little section where all the organic shelf foods are. It's two aisles with organic cereal, flax meal, soup mixes, all the health nut stuff.
Ask Beaker. She'll know. :D
I find it in the cereal aisle also. :)

our store keeps it in the cereal aisle, right above the oatmeal shelf....
exactly what I was going to say. I buy it all the time to put on my kids cereal.
I get it in the cereal aisle too.
our store keeps it in the cereal aisle, right above the oatmeal shelf....
:agree:
My store also has it with the cereals.
Found it by the oatmeal! Top shelf! :D Thanks, everyone!
Are you making the banana bread? :right:
Nope (it has honey and nuts.. not good for peanut), I'm making this into mini-muffins for her (berries are on sale and Plant City strawberries are in!!! so I may make some with strawberries):
Black and Blueberry Muffins
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup wheat germ
2/3 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 eggs, beaten
2 cups half-and-half cream
1 cup fresh blackberries
1 cup fresh blueberries
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Butter muffin pan.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flours, wheat germ, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. In another bowl, whisk together half and half cream and eggs. Stir wet ingredients into dry, mixing just to combine. Fold in berries. Scoop batter into muffin pan cups. If there are any empty cups, fill those halfway with water.
Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until done.
