Yesterday, I made regular baking powder waffles. TODAY I tried a yeast recipe for the first time ever. YUM. :D

Brownie waffle sundaes :eat:
Just saying. Try them.

My kids made waffles for breakfast this morning in ours. Breakfast waffles, not brownie waffles :)

Joe gave me a Belgian waffle maker for Christmas. The boys and i have enjoyed the heck out of that thing. I always make the batter from scratch. Much yummier than pancake mix.

This yeast recipe is SO much better than any other recipe I've tried. I didn't even know you could make them with yeast....apparently it's a more authentic way to prepare Belgian waffles. Also you can refrigerate the prepared dough for later use. :D

Ok, I know I live under a rock, but it never even occurred to me to make waffles with something other than Bisquick. I will definitely be trying this.

My dad had a waffle iron, and I know that the most awesome recipe he used involved whipping egg whites until they were stiff. It made awesome waffles that were perfectly crispy on the outside.

Our go to recipe whips the egg whites too.

Amy, is yours a regular waffle iron or Belgian?
Wondering if these would turn out ok in a regular one.

Amy

Oh, it's a Belgian. I have no idea if they would work in another.

I'll let you know. :D

what's the difference between belgian and regular? I can't remember what I have, lol.

The Belgian one is round and makes thicker waffles. The ones with the really deep holes to hold all your butter. :D

This recipe works in a regular waffle iron, but I think it would be better in a Belgian waffle iron. A regular one makes them too thin to get crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside like the recipe describes.

I need waffles! Amy, do you freeze them? I think I might make a ton up and freeze them.

Amy

 NO. My family eats them too fast. I have had a couple leftover that went into the fridge and were reheated in the waffle iron the next morning.

I'm not Amy, but Danielle, that's the best part of making pancakes and waffles. Just make sure they're cooled off all the way, and you can put wax paper in between to keep them from sticking. Then your kid scan take one out and throw it in the toaster whenever they want.

Why have I never thought of freezing them??? What a great idea!

See, I think pancakes get all crumbly but I have never had issues with waffles. My kids beg for eggos though.

This is us  they are eaten long before the freezer.
My kids also like it when Paul makes chocolate waffles :eat:
