(From my PM to Jenny)

Here is my full supplement recommendation, but don't feel like you need them all. Pick what is most important to you.

You need a good multi. I get the Women's Ultra Mega from GNC because I believe it is truly the bets multi out there and the price is reasonable. (Everything else at GNC is way overpriced.)

From vitacost:

Calcium Citrate: A must for women. A multi doesn't have enough calcium. Also, get citrate and not carbonate. It's absorbed better. You don't have to take a full serving (since your multi will have some and you get some from your diet) but take one in the AM and one in the PM.

CLA: essential fatty acid that helps with fat burning in women, especially abdominal fat. It only works if you're following your plan too though. ;)

GABA: a relaxing supp to take at bedtime to calm your mind down.

As far as protein bars, I eat Zone bars several times per week. They're really good, and even though they have some sugar, they've got protein too. You can usually find these at the grocery store for a reasonable price. There are sometimes coupons in the Sunday paper as well. I would try to find them for $1.50 or less.

Other BFL staples:

Find a decent whole wheat or low carb tortilla. You can make breakfast burritos with egg whites and turkey sausage or turkey bacon. Or wrap chicken and veggies in it for dinner.

Whole wheat pasta. Low carb whole wheat bread. Also, try not to always eat wheat, go for a fruit carb a couple of times per day.

Regarding whey protein (I use Optimum Nutrition):

I think everybody should have vanilla and chocolate.

Vanilla is for making pancakes, adding to oatmeal, adding to anything where you don't want too much flavor.

Chocolate is for shakes and oatmeal. I make a shake with chocolate protein, milk, instant coffee grounds and cinnamon that tastes just like a fancy iced coffee drink. So good!

If you can afford it, get the smallest of each to try first. Probably 2 or 3 pounds. We use it so much we buy 5 pounders of each now.

Don't bother with the fancy flavors like cookies-n-cream. They're disgusting!
