:eat:

What do you like in yours? Do you have a "usual" or do you like to mix it up?

We usually have greens with almonds, feta or goat cheeese, dried cranberries, sometimes fruit (usually pear or cuties) with an italian or oil and vinegar dressing.

:eat:

We love that salad so much we rarely do anything different, but I'd like to mix it up.

So share. :D

I looooove the side salad at Houlihan's. I get it with blue cheese and balsamic.

HOUSE CHOP SALAD
Chopped greens, smoked bacon, corn, homemade croutons, tomatoes, bleu cheese or cheddar, and
a choice of ranch or balsamic vinaigrette.

I have a hard time loving salads at home. Restaurant salads? :eat:

I think it is the dressing thing.

I like a salad with spinach and romaine lettuce mix (I hate spring mix! HATE!). I like to add chopped walnuts, golden or regular raisins, chopped veggies like cucumber, broccoli, cauliflower, meat like ham or roasted chicken to mix up in there and I like black olives in my salad. I like ranch or bleu cheese dressing but I'll also do oil and vinegar. I don't know why, when I get a salad, it has onions on it. WHO puts onions on a salad? I hate onions.

If I'm eating a restaurant salad I eat the croutons. If I'm at home I don't bother.

I really REALLY can't think of any uses for iceberg lettuce. Unless you want to use a head of it for target practice. It is a very rare occaision that I will choose iceberg lettuce.

If I am making salad for all of us, the usual is plain ol' romaine, campari tomatoes and cukes. If we're getting fancy it's that plus some shredded italian cheeses, red onion, diced peppers and croutons.

For me? I like a good greek salad with feta, kalamata olives, chickpeas, etc in my salad. Drizzled with a nice fruity EVOO.

Dan and I eat chef salads for lunch quite a bit too. Green salad topped with peppered turkey, shredded cheddar, hb egg slices and lots of ranch.

I really wish I could find a good dressing that I just love. I like homemade ranch, but *sigh*.

Hidden Valley?

However, this (http://www.recipezaar.com/Spinach-Salad-with-Honey-Bacon-Dressing-55936) salad? I get requests for it. Add grilled chicken. Make extra dressing.

At home, I'll often do spinach or romaine with mandarin oranges, almond pieces, and grilled chicken, with an Asian dressing spray.

I like Annie's or Trader Joe's Goddess dressing. And TJ's fat free balsamic. And Hidden Valley ranch. Ooh, and REAL blue cheese (usually in a jar, not a bottle, or homemade).

I guess it depends on your love of garlic. I think it's yummy. When it has "garlic" in the name... :dunno:
