View Full Version : Do you usually eat dessert?
Food QOTD
I grew up having a treat almost every night, usually ice cream or popsicles. Now I hardly ever do. I just don't keep it in the house. If anything I'll get a big dark chocolate bar and have a square or two.
Last night I *really* wanted something sweet and we had nuthin
I do love sweets though.

Nope, almost never. Sweets were once in a while treats only in our house growing up and I don't have a sweet tooth at all.
Rarely. Even when I go out to eat, I'm much more into the food than the dessert. If I want cake, I go get a piece of cake. I don't wait till after dinner, because by then I'm full and it doesn't taste as good. :stars:
It always sounds good, until I eat. Then, I am usually too full.
If we are somewhere, and they have desserts, hell yes.

Normally, no and i grew up with a nightly dessert. My in-laws pretty much require it so I always have something I can make in a jiffy.
I do keep a bag of chips ahoy in the house because DH and mini Me love them and I think they taste like cardboard

I never grew up with it...but now it sorta depends on the night. I keep popsicles in the house. Thats about it.

I rarely eat dessert. Like Moke, I am much more of a savory food lover and don't have sweet tooth.

I make desserts but not for every night. Kyle would eat dessert over dinner every night of the week. Problem is though, Rich looks for something about 9 every single night. I will often hand him a box of cereal or granola.
ETA: Me, I could care less unless it's a cookie. Then I'm all over it which is why I rarely make cookies.
I also grew up with ice cream almost every night. Now? No. And we try to only give the kids dessert a couple times a week. We don't want it to be a habit.
For me, it became a habit and I still sometimes get the sweet tooth at night before bed.

Then- we often had ice cream or popsicles, but it was mostly on the weekends.
Now- It depends. I was craving ice cream the other day, so I bought a half gallon. It's sitting in the freezer with one scoop out of it.
If we're at home and both craving something, we normally head around the corner and grab some yogurt with fruit. The local yogurt place has the sweet stuff (low cal/low fat) for Bryan and the tart stuff (healthier) for me. We both throw as much fruit as we can on it - pineapple, kiwi, strawberry and rasberries for Bryan and strawberries, blueberries and cocunut for me. I think my entire dish of yogurt is less than 150 calories.

Growing up.....sometimes. My parents were the epitomy of bad eaters. My dad still is.
Now....not usually. Once and awhile if we have a nice dinner I'll make a dessert. Usually pretty healthy though. And I pretty much ALWAYS make dessert when we have company.

I didn't grow up with desserts, but Conn did...his mom always has something desserty in the house. Over time it's rubbed off on me. :nono:
Every now and then we have to force ourselves to take a break, because I'll notice I'm getting bigger, and Conn notices he's feeling like shit too often.

I love dessert. It's one of my biggest downfalls. I could eat it every night, no problem. I have a horrible sweet tooth. I try not to keep the stuff in the house.

John's Mom always has dessert. Lunch and dinner :indiff:. Sometimes, it's simple like store bought cookies, other times it's a cake or pie with ice cream. They consider it part of the meal.
I can't remember if we had dessert a lot when I was a kid. I do remember my Mom baking a lot.
I love to bake and cook so much. We have dessert more often than we should . I TRY to justify it since it's homemade.
We don't have it every night and lately when we do, it's just the kids having it, not me or Glenn.
I don't remember it growing up./old

Growing up there was always something sweet in the house. My mom makes everything from scratch, ice cream, pies, cake, cookies, bars anything you can imagine. Its strange because I almost never have anything sweet in the house now as an adult. No cookies, no ice cream, no cake, pie, etc. I don't have sweet tooth. I'll get a taste for ice cream once and a while.
Keenon on the other hand is a sweet tooth chocoholic. That is ALL he would eat given the chance. I never thought twice about dessert being part of our meal until when he was home onl leave he was talking about someone's wife making dessert most nights and he was in awe and stared into the horizon longingly  I may start doing it a few times a week for him.

Sean loves dessert every night. I like to avoid it. We always seem to have sweets in the house, I try to stay away. The kids are now in the habit of asking for dessert everynight, it really drives me nuts.
 We have it way too often.

I always want something sweet after dinner and it certainly rubs off on Jake and Spencer. I try to keep sweet but low cal things in the house. Right now we have a lot of fresh fruit and some frozen yogurt.
I also have the stuff to make chocolate chip cookies and a box of brownie mix, but I usually only make something like that every other week or so. Brownies usually only last 2 days in this house :indiff: , so I try to keep stuff like that to every other week.

We've just recently started doing it here on a regular basis. Its sort of like a reward system for good manners at dinner.
Let me tell ya, in one week, those kids are now using their utensils and chewing with their mouths closed cause they know that they're going to get two cookies after dinner

Yup. I probably would try to eat it less, but Dave's ALL about dessert, so the kids are, too. It's practically an emergency if Dave's home and there is no ice cream.
Alex's friend's dad works in sales for one of the big ice cream producers. Alex (jealously) told me that they have ice cream every single night. :D

Ya, Dave has told me that if Ben and Jerry's wasn't in Vermont, but was here, he would try to get a job with them. :killingme

I only make something like a cake or something if we have company. We eat fat free sugar free pudding in the evening pretty often though.
