Bzz sent me a bag of each. I have NO clue what to do with them... they sent some recipes along with it, but they're all rather ethnic. I'm not really skilled at that kind of cooking, I admit.

I'm making "Italian chicken" tonight with steamed veggies. Is there anything special (and SIMPLE!) I could do with one of these rices to have as a side dish? :dunno: :stars: :hide:

And if they won't work, that's cool, too. I need to find some recipes I can do.

This sounds like it would be good w/chicken. Low fat too.

One of my favorite things to make is a sausage skillet. I use smoked turkey sausage, onions, garlic, mushrooms and peppers. Season with salt and pepper. Saute that all together until onions are soft. Add a can of diced tomatoes, 2 cups of chicken broth and bring to a boil. Add 1 c. of basmati rice and let it cook for about 20 minutes or until the rice is done. It's so good served with a salad.

That sounds good, Sarah... and sounds like something Phillip and the kids would eat.

My kids devour it. Mason loves it too.

I'm very much a plain rice kind of girl. I like jasmine better than basmati (so much that I buy the 25lb bag at Sam's.)

To cook jasmine rice I bring 1.5 cups of water to boil with a little bit of salt and EVOO. Then add one cup of rice when the water boils. Turn the heat to low and cover. Simmer for at least 20 minutes. I'm usually behind on dinner, so it sometimes will cook as long as 45 min. Depending on how much oil I've put in it, it sometimes gets that wonderful "bottom of the pot" crispness.

I loooove Jasmine rice. It begs to be cooked in coconut milk and topped with a curry. :homerdrool:

This is one of my favorite recipes lately. I've been making it like its going out of style. I use boneless skinless chicken thighs from Sam's and the big bag of frozen broccoli florets from Sams. Its super easy too. The flavors are unreal.

ETA: I leave out the carrots, but thats just me.

I'd never had curry until I ate at Natale's and they had 319 diffnt kinds. I loved some, hated others, and don't know which was which.

I'm intrigued by fancy rice, though.

We only cook with Jasmine rice here. Love, love, love it. We eat rice more than any other staple in our house.
