DH doesn't want to do a gc for a friend's daughter, as he thinks we know them too well to do that. He liked my idea of putting together a college shower/bathroom kit for her. A friend of mine did that for me ages ago, but now I feel stuck.

Please recommend items.

All I can think of:
-a caddy to hold the stuff
-a poof
-toothbrush holder
-soap holder

I know there are more things that one uses in the bathroom to get ready that she'll now need to carry all the way to the showerroom, I just can't think of them.

Did anyone else get or give a clever (and useful!) HS graduation gift?

TIA!

I personally loved the cash gifts.

You could do a makeup bag, some pretty soaps, lotions, etc.

shower sandals. flip flops.

And I would prefer $ no matter how well I know the person :D Especially at that age.

How about one of those super absorbant microfiber hair twistie towel things.

That's what I said too, give her money. Dave really really really is against that and I just don't understand why :stars:

My sister just bought some towels and had them monogrammed with the school colors of the college that BIL's cousin is going to this fall when she graduated HS this year.

MONEY!

The only person I have ever bought an actual gift for HS graduation is TN - I bought him a copy of The Message/Remix and put his money in that. The dust jacket says "Read. Learn. Pray. Live." which I thought was a great message for a graduate, and also I'm pretty sure he didn't already own a Bible.

I think all teenagers would prefer money. Would she like one of those towel robe things? (that's the proper wording, I'm sure) It's not a real robe, more of a towel with straps and a tie. I have one and I love it, but hate robes. My cousin loved bright colored towels, flip flops and a caddy that some one gave her. I have no clue what all was in it, but she was most excited over the purple towels.

Yeah, even the people I knew very well gave me money. And I loved it. That was before the big GC revolution hit. I would have been as happy with GCs to places like Target as well.

I had a shower caddy and hated it. I like the idea of her picking out what works for her. Just my two cents.

You hated your shower caddy? What did you use to carry all your stuff to the bathroom?

I know, right?
One of my girlfriends puffy-painted mine and I had it until it was crushed in this last move :(

Does she need a shower caddy for sure? When I lived in the dorms, we had our own bathroom.

I would go for a really cool journal, planner, messenger bag or photo album if she's into that kind of thing. (No idea how much you want to spend.)

Totally Money!

Maybe, if he wants it to be personal, give money in an inexpensive, meaningful "something".

The dorm I lived in, every 2 rooms (2 girls each) shared a bathroom in the middle. Most girls kept their rooms normal and shared the bathroom, some girls moved all the beds into one room and made a living room out of the other room. It was a pretty cool set up.

I had a suite. 2 rooms (living and sleeping), but no bathroom. There were only 3 in our side of the quad. You should have seen the envy on my dorm-mate's faces when they came in for the first time. :jawdrop: :wtf:  :pissed:

All the "teens" and peeps of that age ask for gas cards.

Who wouldn't want a gas card?

I don't remember now. I was only in a dorm room that required me to use community bathrooms for just a little while. As soon as they opened the dorm up with bathrooms in the suites, I was all over that.

I just hated how it was always wet and icky. :dunno:
