This is my THIRD time trying to get something to be bright pink, but instead, it turns out a dusty rose/mauve color. :bang:

Pretty, but not what I'm going for.

What am I doing wrong??

Never done pink.

What are you using? What method?

Terri

Kool Aid...pink lemonade.

I tried strawberry once. It was not good. It was kind of orange-y.

Are you using white, or the "natural" colored yarn?

/acts like I know how to help

Terri

It's the natural color. Fisherman's wool.

I guess that would make a difference, huh? I've never seen white wool in the stores though.

I don't know if it would or not. It might some.

Do they turn out like this?

Hmm...kind of "in-between" the 2.......

Huh. I don't see the color I'm looking for, on that page. I guess what I'm going for can't be done with Kool Aid..

Yeah....tonight I was trying to do a deep hot pink (by deep, I mean REALLY saturated), dark purple, and tan/brown.

On the bright side, I don't hate how it turned out...it's just not what I had planned.

Hmmm. Maybe try Wiltons?

Or, the acid dyes......Cushings? Jen will know.

Lisa

Or, may try mixing your KA.

Are you letting your yarn soak in vinegar for a while before you start?

Yeah...I did the pre-soak this time, used vinegar...

Actually I forgot to say...I did mix the KA....it was strawberry lemonade and a little bit of black cherry (which I added because the lemonade alone was too pastel).

Maybe I do need to try a different dye..

Said it works on both protein and animal fibers.

I thought someone told me it didn't.

Let me google some more.
