And I have "F'd Up".

I don't know how you chicks get your yarn into those nice long neat thingies.

It'll probably take me a week to untangle this.

That is going to be so pretty all knit up!

Lisa
08-06-2007, 11:55 PM
I wound mine around 2 barstools, then threaded scrap yarn thru, then around and tied in a bunch of places.

The color is gorgeous though!

Jen
08-06-2007, 11:56 PM
I love it! It doesn't qualify for a bad name. :D

What method did you use?

What method did you use?

I kind of did it like your photo album thing that you posted. Except that I didn't pre-soak the yarn...because I'm rash and impatient.

Jen
08-07-2007, 12:01 AM
Did you rinse until it was clear? If so, you are good to go (once it is untangled ;) ).

Lisa
08-07-2007, 12:01 AM
So, is it Kool Aid then?

Terri
08-07-2007, 12:01 AM
And my yarn was f'd up like that BEFORE the dying. But I got tired of fooling with it and thought "Screw it, I'll worry about untangling it after it's dyed."

But then it got a whole LOT more tangled during the dyeing. :indiff:

Terri
08-07-2007, 12:01 AM
Yes, and yes (Jen and Lisa  )

Lisa
08-07-2007, 12:01 AM
:climbs on Terri's tangled head:

Jen
08-07-2007, 12:03 AM
How much yarn is that? Fisherman's wool or something else?

Terri

It's Paton's...one ball/thingy

I already had it, so I thought I'd play around with it.

Lisa
08-07-2007, 12:06 AM
I bought Pattons the other day to dye. :D

4 balls. *squeal*

Jen
08-07-2007, 12:08 AM
That is good. If that was a skein of fisherman's, I would be praying for you.

Jen
08-07-2007, 12:09 AM
Patons is 3.3oz. Fishermans is 8oz.

Lisa
08-07-2007, 12:10 AM
I am still going to pray for you.

Untangling is a bitch.

Jen
08-07-2007, 12:12 AM
When I wound mine tonight the first 80% went great and then I got a tangle. :nono: It seemed to take forever to finish winding the last 20%.

Just breathe and be patient.

Terri
08-07-2007, 12:26 AM
There is hope. I just found one end of the yarn. :confetti:

That's all I'm doing for tonight.

Jen

I finally unraveled it all. It's in a nice neat ball. That's the good news.

The bad news, is I must have tied it REALLY wrong...the color doesn't "alternate" all through the yarn.

So when I crochet it, instead of the different colors all throughout the pants, there's going to be ONE big chunk of red, ONE big chunk of yellow, ONE small chunk of pink (I guess I didn't have a lot of yarn in that section :dunno: ) and ending with another chunk of red.

Lisa
08-07-2007, 10:52 PM
Did you make it into a big loop?

Jen

How did you do that?

Terri

Well, I tried to. But then it kept getting all snarled and messed up. And the more I tried to fix it, the more tangled it got. Me and my short arms, trying to fix this big long thing. I think I got myself wound up in it at one point.

Finally I said "F*** it" And just tied the big ole' mess in 3 places. I just wanted to get on with the dyeing!!

Terri
08-07-2007, 10:56 PM
I told you I'm impatient.

Amanda Lou

you know, I was actually thinking of doing some yarn like this. I was going to do like 9 sections using 3 colors. but then I started thinking about hanking off each section in equal parts and lost interest.

Terri
08-12-2007, 11:42 PM
My new yarn. I'm not sure how I feel about this.

My red sucked up into the green and made it a murky green. It was supposed to be bright green.

But notice how neatly it's all tied, and everything!

You are putting me to shame. Dyed, and crocheted up.

Mine is still sitting there, looking at me. So are my other 2 projects. :nono:

Terri
08-13-2007, 12:08 AM
Thanks everyone. :)

Lisa, don't feel bad, my project is done, but I have neglected everything else this weekend...laundry, cleaning, cooking...

Conn and I are all out of clean clothes, and we had Cheddar Triscuits for dinner. :nono:  But hey, I finished the shorties.

Kate

Yes, they are diaper covers.

wicked
08-21-2007, 11:35 AM
do they go under regular cloths or do you use something else when you want them munchkins to wear something different?

Terri
08-21-2007, 11:39 AM

They act as both diaper cover AND clothing. :D

So yeah, if they're going to wear regular clothing, you don't use the wool...you use some other kind of cover.

Amanda Lou
08-21-2007, 11:53 AM
i love them! I knew it would come out great!

I think the new one is great too. I like it when the colors run together. It looks bad on the hank, but looks great worked up!

Yes, I want to. But first I have to crochet up my new yarn.

Then I'll dye more.

Or make more diapers. Haven't decided...
