View Full Version : I am a crappy seamstress. :-D
I finished my Mei Tai. :D
The seams are horrible. Especially the bottom strap.
Not a line is straight.
And I love it.
The bottom strap is even, it is just folded weird or something. Promise.

How did you pad the straps? No pocket?

nifty!

Low loft quilting batting is the padding. I just cut a strip, put it in the middle, and sewed it down the middle.
And no pocket. I never used the one on the ring sling. :dunno:
And the straps are a little long. But right now I like it that I can wrap it around his back, and then tie under his butt.
He is sleeping in it right now. :D

Did you make it from a pattern?

My kids spent sooooo much time sleeping in the sling. It was a great way to get things done.
I like that style a lot better though. Is it easy to make?

It was time consuming, but not hard. The straps are the PITA part.

Yep. And on your hip. And it is super comfy.
And thanks guys.
I am going to try again I think, doing the straps different.
The bottom one isn't seamed well and parts are coming apart kinda. You can really see the quality work up close.
But, it is functional for now.

I like it, Lisa. I really like how you have it tied around his back.
I like it, Lisa. I really like how you have it tied around his back.
And then it crosses behind me, and ties under his butt. Because the straps are sooooo long. :killingme
I am gonna do another one, eventually.

Do you want to make one?
if it doesn't come back up, let me know. i can copy/mail the pattern.

I can't sew much, and would never try to make one. Do you now know why they cost so much? The gal that made mine said it was no wonder they are $75 and up once she'd made a couple.
It seriously isn't hard.
Just the straps suck ass.
All that folding and pinning.
Blah.
