I need a garment bag for my trip to Washington DC next month. I don't currently own one and have no idea what to look for. I do know that I need one that can handle 2-3 ball gowns and a couple of suits.

Which ones do y'all have? Do you like them? Any recommendations? TIA

I have a Samsonite

The main thing I recommend is taking a steamer with you.

Oh, and I ziplock everything. I'm paranoid, I traveled for years.

Ball gowns - - we need pix :D

I've only got one of them so far. I have one black one and will have one or two white ones, which I haven't gotten yet. I do have a pic of the black one though. You cant see the back of it, but it has black buttons part of the way down it.

I have a couple of garment bags from years of traveling for my job. Make sure the material is light weight because they get kind of heavy pretty quickly with clothes. Shoulder straps are good (at least for me). A hook that can be on the exterior is good so you can hang it in a closet on the plane. If it is the only piece of luggage you are carrying, make sure there are corner pockets for toiletries and there is a 'flap' to carry shoes. Again, if it is the only piece you are carrying, when the sides are clipped, how much depth is there to the luggage. Will it accomodate all you have to carry?

I'll think some more on features I find useful.

This is spot-on. I have a Samsonite garment bag that came with a set I purchased last year. It has all of these features, except the material is heavy after a while.
