I started beading jewelry last winter and have now taken up chainmailling. Does anyone else bead or chainmaille?

Here's a pic of some of the chainmaille bracelets I've made:

The first bracelet is Byzantine weave made from sterling silver.

The second is Mobius flower made from gunmetal.

The third is Barrel Weave made from copper.

A necklace I made:

I really need to start taking more photos of the stuff I make. I don't wear a whole lot of jewelry and usually make stuff to give as gifts.

It's really not that hard but I had a really great teacher. A friend of mine does the chainmailling as well.

Sondra, are you looking to make the traditional chainmaille stuff because the European 6 in 1 and the 4 in 1 are not that hard.....just really really time consuming.

Here's a link to some instructions:

Once I get started making something, it's just so addicting! Keeps me from stuffing food in my face. :D

I grew up in a Native American household we learned beading at a very young age. Its been about 4 years since I have done it but I love it.

I really want to learn to do chainmailing, its really pretty. I am going to check out your links to see if its something I can do.

Your pieces that you have made are beautiful!
Thanks for sharing them.

Basically chainmailling is just taking many many round rings (jump rings) and opening and closing them into patterns with pliers.

Here's my bead mat with tools etc to give you an idea:

Thanks gang! I haven't made anything really for money yet (I did sell a necklace right off me once though!) but will let you know if it ever comes about. I'm afraid that if it becomes a job, I won't like it anymore. :D
