My SUV needs new brakes. I need ok i really really want a new TV for my redone Living room.

I work at home. I watch movies at night. My TV is my big entertainment. I don't drink, smoke, buy too many shoes or clothes, eat out a lot or anything. (Painting pic of pitiful life, is it working?)

I can use my brothers pickup during the day when he is on the road, he parks it here while he works. On weekends I take my life in my hand and drive the "deathwagon" short distances.

Oh wise PW's please guide me in my quest for the best decision.

I guess it's not possible to (secretly) swap brakes on the truck, then let your brother figure it out? :right:

If your vehicle needs brakes, I say do that. Your life depends on them. /wet blanket

Do not fuck with no brakes please?

Find a handy-dood (maybe your brother or a friend?) & for about $25ish bucks for JUST PADS you can buy them at Autozone or something similiar. If you've been driving long enough to hear them squeal when you stop - it's eating into the rotors. This, needless to say, is bad & now they have to be replaced. Those are about $35 each. And last but not least if the calipers need to be replaced those are about $100ish. All these prices are depending on what kind YOU need, kwim?

Cost of your banged up ass (if you survive) will be considerably higher. And you'll be watching (if you're able) a snowy little 12 inch TV mounted a mile away on the wall.

brakes... this is a NO BRAINER!
I agree with 'find a handy dood'... they will save you a ton of money... just make sure they know what they are doing!

I want to do both but I am too sensible. sigh
I wont drive it further than the corner store and it does have brakes but the light is on and I know it is due for at least brake pads.
But I really really really want a new tv before the new season of the soprano's.
I know I will get the brakes done. I just wanted to dream of flat panel skinny lcd with good sound instead of 10 year old crappy color small tv I won in a raffle.
sigh

This is what I voted for too. You only live once, but don't screw yourself out of that by not getting the brakes fixed.

ETA: I wrote this before I noticed you added Mandy to your will. /truthteller

Could you get a TV on a "no-interest, no payments" for X months payment plan? Then you have the best of both worlds.

Here's a thought.. I put off replacing my front brakes 'until I could afford it'.. And ruined my rotors in the process. :dunno:

But my impulsive side says.. get both! :D
