Everyone around us is on a two hour delay so far. Neighboring counties...the city schools and the county schools. Will Anderson follow suit? We are notorious for having school while the others are out. :nono:

Rarely.
They don't want kids standing at the bus stop in -30 wind chills. We rarley get closed due to snow though since we are a city school. The county schools close in a heartbeat though since there are no plows in rural areas.
I just bet. If I lose then I will be down to 100 vcash. /crosses fingers
We hardly ever have school cancelled either. And it usually comes from a govenor state mandate Not local super decision. When we had weather like this a few years ago they just cancelled the entire school day in all districts.
I bet closed just because we are closed already for tomorrow :)
Are you guys closing because of the low temps or for snow/ice?

I think the whole state of WV is on 2 hr delay and some counties are even closed. It's hella cold outside.
:stars:
I didn't read the reason why they would delay. I just assumed another reason.

How cold is it there? It's 0 right now and is suposed to get to -5 tonight.
I bet they won't close schools here.
Hey I got a slightly http://img115.exs.cx/img115/5941/offtopic8ys.gif question.
I started with 500 vcash. What happens if I suck at betting and lose it all. Is there any way to get more? I noticed that some of you have ALOT of vcash. Is that from just wagering really well?
I just checked ours. We have a 1hr delay so far.
Mostly cloudy with flurries and snow showers ending this evening...then clearing. Cold with lows 0 to 5 below. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Wind chill as low as 20 below after midnight. Chance of measurable snow 30 percent.
That's freaking cold.

We're psychic.
And we've attended the "Splenda School for Winning Lots of Fake Money". Particularly during Survivor and AR... she makes bets you can't lose.

:agree: So if you are new to the game and don't know what you are doing, bet all your vcash accidentally, then lose it ... how do you start getting earning more? /just saying
Somehow you get more. I did.
I lost all mine at first, and then one day, it was there.

Ask moke. I know Lisa lost all hers then *poof* magically had more. I think the vcash fairy visited.

Where do you check for school delays/closings?
Cuz, it's colder here than it is in Indiana. I'm wondering if I should check.
I've just never heard of that happening.
**praying for a visit from the vcash fairy if lizz's kids don't go to school on time tomorrow** :D

Just did. Looks like some schools are closing. Not ours.
Suddenly, I don't want to send jordan out. At 8 am it will be -2 (feels like -21) :indiff:

Michele

Well, color me surprised.
When I first checked, there were 7 closings...now there are 22. I think we have a chance of a closing.
I'm going to lose this bet.

We have 3 news stations. Some of them have more complete lists than others.
It *IS* freaking cold. Dangerous.

Wind speeds greater than 40 mph have little additional effect on chilling. In using the table below, values of wind chill below -10° F are considered bitterly cold. Values of wind chill below -20° F are extremely cold -- human flesh will begin to freeze within one minute!

Oh we have a 2 hour delay already. But They could still cancel :dunno: So I can't pay out yet.
Michele

Now they are saying it could get down to -10 WITHOUT wind chill tonight.
*brrr*

I don't like that stuff about human flesh freezing.

When I woke up this morning, it was -4 (-21 windchill) and there were 385 school closings. EVERY SINGLE school district in the cities around us were closed....except ours.
I opened the door to let Harry out and it actually hurt.
So, I kept my kids home.

Well, I don't know if I did the right thing...but it just didn't seem right sending him out to the bus stop. :indiff:
I had to kick the dog outside to go potty....and he just peed and ran back inside.
you did the right thing.
we have the same temps and every school (literally) in the county is closed.

But wednesday is supposed to be 15, so I know they will go back to school then

We're delayed tomorrow as well. They really don't want to close because we'd have to make it up at the end of the year.
I just checked.
They closed all the schools around here tomorrow already.
we get 5 "free" snow days before they have to make them up at the end of the year.
But this will be #4 tomorrow
Angie
02-05-2007, 09:33 PM
We have 5 banked days too, Kate.
We've used 2. And neither days did it actually snow.

We don't get any banked snow days :indiff: Which I think is odd considering where we live.

d00d. All the schools are closing down again.
Apparantly my school district is a hardass regarding school closings. :dunno:

That's crazy. Our schools don't have them, but we don't get snow.
Michele
02-05-2007, 09:50 PM
I don't know how many we have...but honestly, they barely close the schools for snow. Unless there is aLOT of snow. Maybe an average of 1-2 days per year.
Michele
02-05-2007, 11:18 PM
Well, waddaya know. :indiff:
Due to the weather conditions, Livonia Public Schools will be closed Tuesday, February 6, 2007.

Our district has built in snow days. And they are all used up this year.
Last year we never used one, the year before we used all 5.
I am glad they are there as a back-up plan
