For kids.
Have you seen those $1 kits at Michael's or JoAnn's? They are the Foamies. I plan to go the day after Halloween and stock up. :right:

Make ghosts with tissues and a suckers, or just stuff the head with more tissues and tie around the neck.
Get mini pumpkins, cut off the top, scoop out the insides, and fill with alfalfa seeds (it grows fast) and soon the pumpkins will have hair.
Or let them paint faces on mini pumpkins...a lot easier than carving.
Make halloween masks out of paper plates, with a broken rubber band stapled on either side of the head. The rubber band will keep the mask on their face.
Pom pom balls and pipe cleaners will make spiders.
I know I have more, I can look in some of my craft books if you want.
Sonny, where's a good place to get those crafy things like pom poms and pipe cleaners and stuff w/o paying an arm and a leg?
And why is it so hard to find clip clothespins?

I get them at Micheal's. If you buy a huge amount it's not too bad, and they last forever. I think the last time I bought pipe cleaners was about five years ago.
There are also school supply stores, but those are usually $$$.
I'd bet Walmart would have most of that stuff pretty cheap.

If you give me a theme (pumpkin or witch, OR painting, gluing etc.) I can give you a lot more ideas. I have a ton of books.

I like the pumpkin idea. I bet they would love that.
Yeah, Michael's only had the slip on type clothespins. I'll try Target or Wally World.

Would it be good for 3rd graders?

The book has all the holidays in it, ALL of them. The introduction says the book is for children under six years of age, but that many of the ideas can be used for older children.
I think it would work for older kids, you could have them do much of the work themselves, especially the cooking and science.

Wow, Michele. I couldn't do that! I helped Courtney last year with Thanksgiving feast crafts, like hats and stuff...I thought I was going to have to punch those little shits in the neck.

You really do have to ignore a LOT of behaviors when working with kids. Always plan on an activity taking 30% to 50% longer than you think it will. :agree:

:D There is also More Channels to Children, but I've never looked at it. I'm sure it's great, but I'm not sure if it's holidays, or other themes. :dunno:

Go buy "Pack O Fun" magazine. It has oodles of stuff. I used to buy it all the time when I was doing Scouts. They may have a few things on their website, too.

Michele--
for cheap games
Carve 3 or 4 pumpkins-- one face each side.
keep the pieces with each pumpkin in a ziplock, have the kids get into 4 groups, they have to put thier pumpkin back to gether the fastest.
a set of plastic bowling pins and mini pumpkin bowling
Have one kid wear a plastic pumkin around thier waist (hold on with a bungee cord) and the other kids (2 teams) race to bounce ping pong balls into the pumpkins.
Manda had the best rooms moms 2 years ago. I will try to remember more of their ideas.
