View Full Version : HONEST opinions please....
So I am working on the scrapbook for my SIL's wedding for her for xmas. Here is the first page I've worked on. Please tell me what you think. It's not my personal style. I tried to use colors and elements I knew she would like. Be honest....I know nothing about scrapbooking really.

*I* think it looks great!
But I know nothing about scrapbooking so maybe I am way off.

Well, it's not my personal style either, but I might like it better with all 3 pictures in the sepia or whatever that is.

I think it looks nice Lizz. You are creative, and even without effort it looks good. :)
it's not my style either.
Maybe crop the pictures a little. Take the truck or whatever it is out of the middle one.

Yeah, it's bothering me too.
Her style = teddy bears and unicorns and stuff :indiff:

Hey, I like unicorns.
Not really.

Try cropping the pictures. Is this the online thing? Digital pictures? That way you don't risk messing up a hard copy.
I think that will help a lot.
Other than that I think it looks great. Honestly.
Even for a teddy bear and unicorn style.

The truck bugs me too.
Unicorns?
I haven't read any of the previous posts, but I think it would look better with some teddy bears and unicorns.

You need more flowers too, Lizz.
I think you've done a great job even if it's not my style either.
Seriously though, even though I wouldn't like it personally, I would add some more flowers and doodads to make it busier. It sounds like she would like that. But it looks great. I think you have a natural eye for composition.

I think it looks nice. Maybe cropping and matting the pictures would make it look a little more polished, but otherwise it looks really nice.

The 2 BW pics are cropped...
I emailed it to my mom (who is helping me) and I told her you guys mentioned the truck being cropped out. She says, "They obviously don't know what kind of wedding this was or what kind of people the in laws are. The truck stays. It's ambiance"
Seriously though, the middle pic will most likely be replaced with a pic from a diff vantage point. My dad took a slew of walking down the "aisle" pics that aren't scanned yet.

That comes from my 1/2 assed training in my almost journalism degree. Page layouts :D Look ma! My student loans DID count for something.

You're doing great! :D
My only advice is that I started liking my pages more when I added more pictures. It really is about the pictures and not the embellishments. Although, you wll add the fancy stuff....just make sure that pictures dominate the page.

I was thinking of doing like one "fancy" page, one pic heavy - not so fancy page, one fancy page, and so on. :dunno: Is that a good plan? Like maybe the facing page would be sectioned into quarters and just pretty straight forward pics on mattes.

Yup. :D
I think you're doing a great job, I was just giving you pointers from my experience.
I want to try that digital scrapbooking.
I have not read the responses, but I think it looks great. You want it to be a bit simple, not too busy, so the pictures get the most attention. I find I'm most proud of my simpler pages.
This is digital, right? Can you crop and zoom in on the middle picture? I like that you have that one in color and the others sepia. It draws your eye to her smile.
Yup. :D

I think it looks great. I would maybe change the center photo to sepia as well, and crop it some.
