Rachel Ray to host talk show

The Food Network chef is adding a talk show to her variety of other ventures.

Rachel Ray doesn't just host popular cooking shows on the Food Network, write best-selling cookbooks or edit her own lifestyle magazine. Now she has her own talk show.

Ray's syndicated show debuts Sept. 18 and will be different from other talk shows.

"I want to laugh and eat something in every show," Ray says. "It's very important to me that everything is accessible. People love that sort of friendly advice and that sense of community when you get advice from a peer instead of an expert."

Instead of the typical celebrity interview format, Ray's show will feature a variety of guests and activities to draw in all kinds of viewers.

"I'm really tired of seeing makeovers and date things and everyone is 20," she says. "I want to go from another angle. I want old and young to want to watch the show. I want it to be fun and interactive for all ages."

But Ray adds that talk-show queen Oprah has been "a huge and continuing influence."

"She tells me to be myself. She doesn't chime in or call up and say, 'This is how you can be more like Oprah.' She's pretty busy with her own job."

I love her!! She's sooooo obnoxious, over-the-top, and loud - but there's something about her!

I want to slap a slat out of her.

My mom says that. Does anyone else say that?

I don't say that, never even heard it before. I  your mother.
