I'm going to make one, probably using a box mix. The last time I tried to make a cake from scratch it didn't go to well. Does anyone have tips for making a REALLY chocolate-y cake? Add some chocolate chips to the mix? Any favorite mixes? Favorite frostings? My personal fav frosting is buttercream, but the bride-to-be wants chocolate. What she wants, she gets!

Preferably, the more moist, more gooey I can make this the better.

This is one of the easiest, gooey-ooey-chocolate-y, cakes in the world. SO, SO simple!!

1 pkg chocolate cake mix
1 3/4 cups milk
1 pkg instant chocolate pudding mix
2 eggs
12 oz chocolate chips

Combine all ingredients; mix by hand until well blended, about 2 minutes. Pour into greased and floured bundt or tube pan. Bake at 350 degrres for 50-55 minutes or until cake springs back when lightly pressed. Do not overback. Cool 15 minutes in pan. Remove from pan and cool on rack.

We don't usually put any frosting on it............it is way rich and sinful without, but if the bride wants chocolate frosting, because the cake can stand alone, I would go with a very simple chocolate frosting

 The only really good cakes I have ever made at least start from a box!

I so wish I could make a decadent chocolate cake from scratch...

Really - I've always had people compliment BettyR's Mayo Cake. I just add more sweetner and a generous gush of SF chocolate syrup.

Chocolate Mayonnaise Pound Cake

It's a dense moist cake that fills the bunt pan and doesn't fall when you take it out of the oven. The texture is like real pound cake.

I melted 3 Z Carb bars with some cream and drizzled it over the top. We served it with low carb ice cream and whipped cream with chopped almonds.

Chocolate Mayonnaise Pound Cake
(As per Fitday there are 68g of carbs for the whole cake)

3 cups almond flour
1 cup vital wheat gluten
2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa
1-1/4 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
4 eggs
1/2 cup Erythritol
1-1/2 teaspoons liquid Splenda
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup mayonnaise
2/3 cup vanilla Davinci syrup
2/3 cup cream

Put ingredients into food processor in order listed and process for 30 seconds, scrape down sides and process for another 1-1/2 minutes.

Pour batter into a greased and floured bunt pan and bake.
(I use cake release(wal-mart in craft section) and then just brushed up the sides of the pan as well as the tube in the middle. It works great and there's no mess.)

Bake as 325° for 45 to 50 minutes or until cake tester inserted in center comes out clean.
