It's been driving me insane since the first time I heard it mentioned....

What in the heck is "geo-caching"??

All I can picture is Pokemon when I see that word.

I haven't gone yet, but basically it is a little like a treasure hunt. People have hidden caches all over the place and they list the coordinates, longitude and latitude (go to geocaching.com to find caches) The 'treasure hunter' enters the coordinates into their GPS and it leads them to the area where the cache is hidden. You still have to find it once you get within about 20 feet.

Inside the cache is a logbook, you sign it and relate your experience in finding it. Most of the time there are items inside, you can take an item, but you need to leave an item behind as well.

How interesting! Have you done it? What kinds of things do you find and what kinds of things have you left? /nosey

I haven't done it. We just got our GPS this week, and we are going out this weekend to do it. We bought a plastic bracelt kit, and we are going to make bracelets that say "Geocaching Rocks!" for the kids to put in the cache. :D

If we get really into it, we are going to have pens or pencils made that say that, you can buy a lot of those cheap.

Thanks DIMW :)

Sonny, I'm a dork.. you said in your first post that you hadn't done it yet. I don't read very well, can you tell? :p Those sound like great ideas for things to leave
