Yum! I freakin' love bake-offs. If I had a little girl, I'd hope she'd want to enter the easy bake oven bake-off :D

You had an EZ Bake oven didn't you? :right:

Susan I bought my little cousin one and she didn't really use it and I want it back!!

My mom enters recipe contests like crazy. One year she asked me for a recipe, and I just made one up. She sent it in to the local paper, and I got called, and had to go bake for it.. they had 3 judges..one judge was from Ruth Chris's steakhouse..she really loved my cake.

Apple pie won my category lol.

my sis won with her carrot cake a few years before that.

I entered 12 times  this year. (actually the deadline was last May)

I would have to dig out my notebook, but I can think of a few of the top of my head

-sour lines cake (a white cake with alternating layers of lime and lemon curd and a coconut frosting) My tasters either LOVED this one or HATED it-- there was no middle ground!

-a quick/easy aparagus pesto over chicken in cresent puff shells

-a Mexican wonton soup. This one was drool worthy but :( probably too time consuming for this contest.

-butternut squash soup

-Italian Potpie

-fresh mushroom ravioli baked with a marina sauce,

I have a whole notebook of ideas. I need to get it out and re-work some of these for next year and other recipe contests.

EDITED--- the pot pie was not filled with the ravioli-- those were 2 separate recipes!

I loved the sour lines cake. The first time.

Not so much by the fifth time. :nono: my family grew to dread my panicing near the deadline-- I was making 3 entrees and 2 desserts for every dinner!

I have got to say that recipe sounds really gross!!

Tina

Her recipe is wack. I would never make that. Ever. Ever.

Spinach + waffles + syrup = no thank you

Kate

ok-- I was wondering if I was just bitter or if everyone thought that recipe was "off"

Kate, when you need to try out recipes, you can always bring some over here. :D

I think that is SO COOL that you enter contests like that. I have always wanted to but was too imtimidated.

So, does this mean that since the 43rd contest is coming up next year ;), then I am guessing the recipes need to be submitted very soon?????

How do you find out about all this stuff? /should be looking on website, but tonight I am being lazy. Seriously, how do you know about them, are you actively searching for contests?

http://www.contestcooking.com

they have a forum, it is subscription only. $25/Year. But if you are into it the site is so worth it. They are VERY knowledgable on contest and will answer any question, they send out a mailing every 2 weeks of open contest with lists of the past winners.

There are parts of the site free of charge.

I have slacked off and haven't entered anything in months. I need to start again.

I always wanted and easy bake oven, but never got one! :(

And yes, I think that recipe sounds gross! I'm thinking the use of products helped her along! She is definitely not a true Texan! Who ever heard of making dressing out of a dang frozen waffle!

Kate-I'm so impressed! Can I call you Suzy-Suzy Homemaker!!! :LURVE:YOU

Awww Aki! I think you should treat yourself to one. It only takes 20 min to bake a cake by light bulb.

:love::rofl:
