Feed My Starving Children is a non-profit Christian organization committed to feeding God’s starving children hungry in body and spirit. The approach is simple: children and adults hand-pack meals formulated specially for starving children, and we ship the meals to more than 60 countries around the world.

Our Vision

With God’s help Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) will strive to eliminate starvation in children throughout the world by helping to instill compassion in people to hear and respond to the cries of those in need.

Overview

From its beginnings, Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) has worked to develop a food mixture that would be easy and safe to transport, simple to make with only boiling water, and culturally acceptable worldwide.

With the input of scientists from major food companies in the Twin Cities area—including Cargill and General Mills—FMSC developed a formula consisting of:

1. Rice, the most widely accepted grain around the world.
2. Extruded soy nuggets, providing maximum protein at lowest cost.
3. Vitamins, minerals and a vegetarian chicken flavoring to give growing children the critical nutritional elements they need.
4. Dehydrated vegetables for flavor and nutrition.

Packaged in small pouches—each of which provides six highly nutritious meals—this easy-to-prepare food blend has won rave reviews all over the world. While the formula was designed to save the lives of severely malnourished and starving children, the ingredients also improve the health, growth and physical well-being of children who are no longer in immediate danger of starvation. A team of food scientists continues to monitor the FMSC formula to ensure that it meets nutritional needs for the world’s hungry children.

A single bag of food—which provides meals for six children—costs around $1 to produce, and 94 percent of all donations to FMSC goes directly toward the food program.

Where We Work

Feed My Starving Children provides life-saving meals to people who need them most all over the world — from countries affected by natural disaster to places enduring economic despair. FMSC meals are distributed in more than 60 countries through missionary partnerships at orphanages, schools, clinics, refugee camps and malnourishment centers.

FMSC believes in sustainability – we don’t simply send one shipment of food to a country. Instead, we continue to provide our mission partners with the food they need to maintain their feeding programs.

The deadline to donate with the group  is December 28th, however you may also make your own donation at FMSC.org.

As the year draws to a close, we enter a special time called “The Holidays”. It’s that time between Halloween and Thanksgiving when people put on their festive best, are in good cheer, are baking and cooking and planning and looking forward to being with loved ones, near and far.

Around our homes, the scents are delightful and tempting. Gingerbread, fruitcake, candies, cookies, pies… and those are just the desserts! Can’t forget the Christmas ham or goose or turkey or prime rib, or if you’re a vegetarian, tofurkey! Pile on the side dishes and the rolls, pour a glass of punch, and a good time is had by all.

What does Christmas look like, or sound like, at your house? Have you decorated your homes, your work space, your car, maybe, for the holidays?
